You can play Numé Cat's with different rules : the main rule of course, presented in "the game", but also the memorys, war, families, the Ch'ami, the quick game...

You can download the rule of the game here after, as well as the variations in pdf format (readable with acrobat reader).

For each rule, we give you the time a game approximately lasts, the number of players and the minimum age required for the players.

You can invent other rules if you like and send them to the Cat's Family so other players can take advantage of them to.

Other activities are also possible, like incomplete additions to get the child to learn the principle of 5 + ... = 8 ; for that, all you have to do is use a single set of cards like the stars and put a card with 5 stars on the left and a card with 8 stars, more to the right. Then ask the child to find the card he must put next to the 5 stars in order to get up to 8 stars.
Download the rule on the Memorys : from 1 to 4 players, for 4 year olds and up ; time a game lasts : 10 to 20 min, depending on the rules used.
Necessary cards : 2 types of "series" cards (the numbers and the squares for instance) which means 10 pairs maximum
Aim of the game : find the most pairs of cards
Principle of the game : Mix the cards together and place them face down on the table. Turn 2 of them over. If the numbers are identical, leave the cards face up (if you are playing alone) or take the pair (if multiple players), and turn 2 others over. Otherwise, turn them back over. It's up to the next player to turn 2 cards over. The game stops when all the pairs have been found. The winner is the player who has turned over the most pairs. You can also make the game more difficult by putting more series in the game (4 or 6). In that case, you just have to know which series will go together. Therefore, you can take 40 cards, with the numbers that go with the stars, the capital letters that go with the small letters.
Variation : the auditory memory (starting with 2 players) : The principle is the same except that you only see the upturned cards of the other players. When it's your turn, you take 2 cards and you show them to the other players who tell you what they see. So the memory is auditory.

Download the rule on War : from 2 to 6 players, for 4 year olds and up ; time a game lasts : 20 to 30 min
Necessary cards : all the "series" cards or the ones adapted to the age of the players.
Aim of the game : to win all the cards
Principle of the game : After mixing the cards together, you divide the cards up in equal stacks and you give a stack to each player. Then, at the same time, all the players turn a card over. The player with the biggest number picks up the other players' cards and puts them under his own stack. If there is an equality for the biggest number, the players who have this number put a card face down on the upturned card and turn a third card over. The player with the biggest number wins the other players' cards and puts them under his own stack.
End of the game : The winner is the one who has won all the cards, or the one with the biggest stack in a set amount of time (for instance 30 min).

Download the rule on the families : from 2 to 4 players, for 4 year olds and up ; time a game lasts : 15 min
Necessary card : the "series" cards or the ones adapted to the age of the players.
Aim of the game : to win the maximum of families
2 possible variations : the families of cards that have the same value (for instance all the cards that have a value of "1") and the families of cards with the same symbols (stars or squares for instance)
Principle of the game : You deal as many cards as there are elements in the family (which means 10 cards if you take all the families). The rest is for the pile. After that, each his turn, each player can ask another player for a card. If the player has it, he gives it to you and you can ask another question to get another one. As soon as the answer is negative, you pick a card in the central pile. If the card you pick is the one you had asked for, you announce it by showing the card and you can ask a new question. Otherwise, it's the next player's turn, clockwise. The youngest player starts. When the central pile is empty, it's directly up to the next player to play.

Download the rule on the Quick game : for 2 players, and up to 4 ; for 5 year olds and up (depending on the series) ; time a game lasts : 10 min
Necessary cards : the "series" cards (depending on how old the players are you can use between 4 and 7 series)
Aim of the game : to get rid of all your cards
Principle of the game : After mixing the cards together, you separate them into 2 equal stacks that you place in front of the players. Each player then receives 5 cards of each stack (which gives a total of 10 cards). Then the players turn a card over from each stack. Each their turn, the players can place, on the 2 upturned cards, a card which has a number that comes before or after one of the 2 upturned numbers. If a player is blocked, he skips his turn. When both players are blocked, you turn a new card over from each stack. The winner is the first player to get rid of all of his cards.

Download the rule on the Ch'ami : from 2 to 4 players, for 5 year olds and up ; time a game lasts : 15 min
Necessary cards : the "series" cards (depending on how old the players are you can use between 4 and 7 series) and all the special cards
Aim of the game : to get rid of all your cards
Principle of the game : After having mixed the cards together, you deal 10 cards to each player. The rest is for the central pile. Then, each their turn, the players pick a card and can place on the table either 3 cards that follow each other (without taking the series into consideration, like for instance 3 squares, 4 rounds and number 5) or at least 3 cards with the same number (number 6, 6 stars, SIX), or you can complete the series of cards already placed on the table, before getting rid of a card in the talon. The special cards can only be active once they are placed on the talon, except for the "present" card. The winner is the first player to get rid of all of his cards.
