Numé Cat's Junior was asked for, both by parents looking for an interesting mathematical game for their children
between 4 and 6, and by kindergarten teachers.
Numé Cat's Junior has different sets of cards : 10 cards with rounds (from 1 to 10 rounds depending on
the cards), 10 cards with stars, 10 cards with squares, 10 cards with numbers, 10 cards with the ten
first numbers written in French in capital letters, 10 cards with the same numbers written in French in small letters,
10 cards with simple additions and 11 cards with cats and mice.
As soon as he is 4, a child starts counting objects around him or objects in books, on cards. Of course, at his level, the counting is very simple, the child counts on his fingers, often up to 5 objects. After that, he is lost.
Numé Cat's Junior is a game which can evolve, which means it can be played with only a part of the cards, depending on
the level of the child. In the beginning, the cards used will be those with rounds, stars and squares holding
maximum 5 objects per card, and afterwards you can add the cards with the numbers from 1 to 5. The first simple rules
for young children can be war, memory or a sorting game. For instance, they must find the cards with a single object on them,
with 2 objects... ; associate an object card with its corresponding number.
When the child gets older and can count up to 10, you can then add the rest of the star, round, square and number cards.
And you can play with the same rules, classify the cards from the smallest to the biggest number.
It is a way to work on logic and classification technics while playing. And you can invent simple rules
with the cats and mice cards as a way of giving children an extra incentive and making them want to have those pretty
cards in their own hands.

When they are 6 and even younger, children start learning how to read. You can then add the cards with capital and
small letters. The child must then be able to count the number of objects on a card and associate it with the
written number. You can play with different rules : war, memory, families and more. Thanks to this game and by playing with it
on a regular basis, the child will acquire or improve automatic reflexes learnt in school. It is very important to
give him enough time to count or read. Don't give him the answer too fast, you don't want to "assist" him. Speed
will come through time and practicing.
When they are around 6 years old, children learn additions. So you can then add the cards with the simple additions. And you can now use all the cards of the game. You can play with all the rules and invent others depending on the children's tastes. The main rule allows the whole family to play together without it being boring for the older ones. The game
being based on speed, you must be faster than the others when counting the number of objects on the card, reading
the numbers or the letters, or counting the additions. The game seems easy but watch out ! It is easy for everyone
so you must increase your own speed. And it isn't that easy to go real fast at counting the number of objects per card.
